Our Staff

  Miss Amy, Assistant Teacher, Infants

Miss Amy began working at ABBA during school breaks in 2007 and became a permanent employee in 2008. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in theology from Concordia University, St. Paul. She is a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carol Stream where she is active with the youth group. She began caring for children by babysitting her younger cousins and also helped with Vacation Bible School. She worked at the University Childcare Center with the infants and preschoolers and spent one summer working as a nanny. Miss Amy gives each baby lots of love and takes many pictures of them. She works closely with Sandra to evaluate the progress of each child as well. In her spare time she enjoys knitting, reading, and watching "Lost".

  Miss Sandra, Lead Teacher, Infants

Miss Sandra holds a Bachelors degree in Preschool Education from Monterrey Nuevo Leon Mexico. Before coming to ABBA in September of 2007, she taught kindergarten and junior high school for more than 12 years.

When working with the infants, Miss Sandra spends lots of time on the floor with them. She talks to them and sings to them and plays peek-a-boo and other games. Miss Sandra is an invaluable resource to us in our service to the Hispanic community and has translated many of our documents into Spanish. She lives in Glendale Heights with her sons, Kevin and Danny (a former ABBA student). Miss Sandra is an excellent cook and frequently shares some of her dishes with us.

  Miss Amanda, Center Assistant Director

Miss Amanda received her Bachelor of Arts in Lutheran Early Childhood Education from Concordia University, River Forest, IL. Prior to coming to ABBA in August of 2006, she worked for a year at Christian NE Hospital’s Child Development center in St. Louis.

Miss Amanda became the Assistant Director in July of 2011, and has been serving faithfully ever since. Learning the 'business' side of the program has been eventful, but being able to help the Center to grow and thrive is always her first goal.

  Miss Ashley, Assistant Teacher

Miss Ashley began working at ABBA in 2008. She attended Glenbard North High School, and is currently enrolled at College of DuPage taking classes towards an Associate’s Degree in Childcare Development.

Miss Ashley is our jack of all trades assistant. She works as an assistant in the toddler room. Her flexibility is a major asset as a staff member. She and her son Dashaun (who attends ABBA) live in Carol Stream.

Miss Sharon, Lead Teacher, Two year olds

Miss Sharon received her Certificate in Early Childhood and Associates Degree in childcare from the College of Dupage. She also has a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Aurora University. She began working at ABBA part time in 2007 and became a full time staff member in June of 2008. Prior to coming to ABBA she taught at Master’s Christian Preschool in Carol Stream and also for the Carol Stream Park District.

Miss Sharon must have a garage full of resources at her home because with each new theme, new toys come to the classroom. She keeps the children interested in learning by frequently changing the toys that the children have to play with. When not working, Miss Sharon enjoys spending time with her 5 grown children and one precious grandson at their cottage in Wisconsin.

Miss Kathy, Lead Teacher, Three year olds

Miss Kathy has been teaching at ABBA since 1998. She received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from the College of DuPage. Prior to working at ABBA she taught at Stepping Stone, Early Years and Pioneer Child Care.

Miss Kathy loves to incorporate music and the flannelgraph in her teaching. She also likes to tell stories. She is an avid reader and enjoys taking vacations with her siblings and their families.

Miss Leslie. Lead Teacher, Fours/Fives Room

Miss Leslie began working for ABBA in the summers when she was in college. She received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Illinois State University and then taught a mixed age group of 3-5 year olds at Elmhurst Academy and served as an assistant director at The Goddard School in St. Charles before coming on staff at ABBA in November of 2006. She began as the Ones/Twos teacher but then became the Fours/Fives teacher in August of 2007. She gets the children in her class involved in many science experiments throughout the year.

Miss Leslie and her husband Joe have a lovely daughter, Lily, and a handsome son, Trent (who both attend ABBA). She enjoys being a mom and spending time at her family’s cottage in Wisconsin.

Miss Bekah graduated from Concordia, River Forest in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education.  She spent her first year of teaching at Our Savior Preschool in Carol Stream.  During college she worked for 3 years at the Concordia Childcare Center in River Forest.  Miss Bekah did some substituting here during the summer of 2010.

She and her husband David were blessed with a beautiful son in September 2010.  We are excited to have her on staff to reopen the Ones and Twos room.

  Miss Mariel, Assistant Teacher

Miss Mariel joined our staff in September 2010.  She is a vital part of our center as she serves lunch to everyone and makes sure that our kitchen runs smoothly.  Before and after lunch time, she helps out in various classrooms wherever she is needed.  We appreciate her flexibility in being in different classrooms.  Miss Mariel is bi-lingual and helps with translating for our Hispanic families and students.

  Miss Ada, Assistant Teacher
