Ministries:
Childrens Ministries Children are a vital part of Family In Faith. We strive to provide
children and teen ministries that are fun, educational, and most
importantly provide ways for our children to know and love Jesus as
their Savior. Our Sunday morning programming for children is offered
during the School year.
Our Sunday School (preschool–5th grade) meets at 9:15am on Sunday
mornings. Each week, the children enjoy hands-on learning in a
combined-age classroom setting.
Children's Church (kindergarten–5th grade) is offered the 2nd–5th
weeks of the month during our 10:30am worship service. The first Sunday of the month is Family Sunday,
where children stay in the worship service with their parents.
Nursery care is provided during the 10:30am worship service for babies
and preschoolers.
ABBA
The ABBA ministry here at Family in Faith
serves the child-care needs of more than 30 families in our community,
allowing single parents as well as traditional nuclear families the
opportunity to better themselves, as well as offering a Christian
upbringing for their children. The children sing songs, play
games, and learn in a loving atmosphere, with a staff of trained
care-givers. They have Jesus time everyday as well as special events throught the year. Learn more by visiting ABBA's web page.
Music Team
Every week, a good ten people put their talents and time to great use
in shaping our Sunday morning worship experience. But the goal isn’t to
put on a show—not at all. Every week, musicians, vocalists, and other
artists come together to create a place where God can receive praise
from His people and where these same people can receive His truth, His
love and His grace in return. That is why they gather; that is worship.
If
you are a musician, a vocalist, an actor, or an artist of any stripe or
skill, you are welcome to see if Worship is God’s place for you.
Missions
Family In Faith is committed to continually reaching out to others,
both in our community and around the globe. We support a changing group
of ministries by giving away 10% of all the offerings received.
Currently, we are working with Gus Soko, a refugee from African, and
mentoring him to eventually serve as a church planting pastor in French
Speaking Muslim dominated areas of West Chicago. Adults are regularly
given the opportunity to go on service teams. This summer, we have a team member going to Nicaragua, and later to Paraguay. Others served last year in Mexico on Eyeglass
clinics. If you are interested in going on a missions trip, please let
the office know.
Youth
Our mission is to help young people maintain and grow in their
relationship with God. When kids reach a certain age, it sometimes
seems as if they speak a different language and it can be difficult for
adults to reach them emotionally. Adolescence can be a difficult time
as kids try to find themselves and their place in the world. Our
children face a lot of peer pressure and negative outside influences
and need all the love and support which only family and a solid belief
in God can give. This is when a strong faith in Jesus has an impact.
Family In Faith wants to offer a safe hangout for young people to take
a break and have real, open discussions and most of all, loads of fun!
There are also annual mission trips every summer.
Food Pantry
Since 2005, Family In Faith has given away 600,000 pounds of food to
more than 2,000 different families. We are committed to serving those
in need in our community, and are in the process of planning for a
permanent Food Distribution Building so we can expand this outreach.
For the last two years, we have teamed up with the Villiage of Glendale Heights to run a mechanical bull during Summerfest. We have photos of the 2011 event available here. By teaming up with the local community, we strive to make sure that no one in this community goes to bed hungry!
We
can always use volunteers for the Pantry: to distribute food, to help
register guests, to pray, to serve coffee, to translate, to work behind the scenes. Contact the church
office (630-653-5030) or email Don Summers if you would like
to help in some way.
Prayer
A team of six individuals prays for ALL prayer requests received every
week. We believe that there is great power in prayer, and we’re
committed to continually praying for the needs of those who we are in
touch with.
We
have a prayer team available during the Lord’s Supper at the 10:30am
worship, ready to pray for anyone who desires direct and immediate
prayer.
Men
The men hold a breakfast the first Saturday every month, to encourage
each other spiritually, share concerns, stresses, and burdens, and to
pray with and for each other.
Women
Women have started getting together to seek to help each other come
closer to Jesus and to dig deeper into God’s will for their lives.
Refugees
Family In Faith has welcomed refugees from Liberia, Nigeria, Iraq,
Bosnia, Afghanistan, Bhutan, and Columbia during the last ten years.
Currently, we are supporting the seminary education of a Liberian
preparing to plant new churches in French Speaking Islam West Africa.
We continue to provide Welcome Packs of basic household items as new
refugees are placed in our general area. |
